taylor had her 1st AAA state soccer tourny of the season. After getting stuck in div 4 as a new team in AAA, Darren wanted to prove we could win. Our team has 4 new girls (and we had a little pool party last week for some bonding time :) but even w all the changes we did great. We lost the first game by 1 (and Taylor scored our only 2 goals-one on a free kick that she put perfectly in the top corner). She played great and much more aggressive! I told her I didn't want any sad faces after games this year-just do your very best and smile at the end! She did. The next game we won 6-1 and Taylor scored 3. Based on points, we made it to the semis but we had to leave that night to go to SF so we missed the Saturday games. They ended up taking 2nd and Darren was so mad at me that we didn't change our flights to stay. I actually did look into switching them but it just didn't work out. She was sad but had hurt her knee in game 2 (girls are mean-at least we saw some cards handed out!!) and has been limping all week...so probably a good thing we didn't stay! Gotta get Kara to work on her :)
Zacky was so thrilled to spend 2 days at games in SLC.... but he made some fun by climbing trees :)
Go Northern Peaks!
still the corner kicker... she did great!
Here is her free kick...you can see it up in the left corner :) Nice shot!...off to Roxberry to celebrate...
after MANY delays...we made it SF to visit Bryan for the week. Saturday was his company party and the kids had fun with all the activities at the park :)
Before the canoes, we raced in the 'bicycle' boats. They were hard and Bryan's side started filling w water because Zacky was so light :) It was a gorgeous day and as fun as company parties get ;)
Monday we went school shopping. It was Zacky's turn. Taylor has been shopping all summer and has more clothes than she can fit in her closet!! My tom boy has turned into a total girly clothes horse! Zacky does not enjoy shopping but did find a lot he actually liked! Hard to do! He's so picky and basically could care less! Just wanted a red hoodie like Austins! Oh boy, the clothes fighting is drawing near. School starts next week and I keep reminding him he can't wear the same basketball shorts every day!!! Summer has consisted of 2 outfits and his sliding pants instead of underwear! gross! After quite the search for undies that are long and tight like sliding pants, I finally gave in and just bought more sliders! Weird kid :)
Sunday we had family games and family planning day. The kids were thrilled...but we did come up with the new $1 reward and consequence system. We need to work on speaking kindly and showing more compassion... it's working and they are having a blast hugging each other when someone gets hurt for that $1. Hopefully it will turn into a habit :) Then we headed out to feed the ducks...
the little lake was too windy so we decided to stroll around Stanford. It is a gorgeous campus! I loved all the old buildings and old trees...the kids were not so thrilled but it was still a fun evening :) I told Taylor she should go to Stanford and she said, 'you WANT me to move away!? Rude!!' :)
Zacky and his tree climbing ;)
another sarcastic photo :D
football tossing is always a favorite!
daddy & zacky showing 'compassion' ;)
monkey in the middle always end well ;)
we decided to try to find the lake that was on the campus map, but it turned out to be completely dry...there were even a couple of sunken boats at the bottom!
Taylor's knee was hurting mixed w neither kid likes walks!...so this is Taylor moping about how we walked '10 miles' to see a lake and this is all it is!! funny :)
we had a week of movie nights and boys played Halo. Zacky was in heaven w Daddy and Taylor and mommy had some private movies and escape shopping trips :) (we found the coolest outdoor mall-Taylor said everything there was TOO expensive and she was way right, but it was a gorgeous little town!)
on yet another day of hunting for new shoes for Zacky, I had had enough of his "I don't like any of these shoes" at every store, so I found a hurricane simulator and stuck him in it. I felt better. And we FINALLY, on the last day, found some stinking shoes! They are converse high tops that look like big Austin's so he's happy! We spend hours looking for DC's and that's what he picked. Remind me never to shoe shop again with him!
We played Rage almost every day! Taylor was in heaven (not so much Zacky but he was good about it)
Wed we headed up to Oakland for a baseball game with Grandpa Ashby. Always a fun day! And dad got me a Rocky Mtn apple for my b-day so I was happy :)
Daddy wanted to take us to Hobees so we went after the game...yummy and much sickness afterwards! We ate our way through SF yet again! Zacky drew sharks..."his favorite animal and least favorite animal". He is infatuated w them and yet terrified of them. I told him this picture will be used against him in a court of law some day!
Every day we went to pick up Daddy after work, the kids tried to scared him. Taylor got him good! This day we had to wait too long and Zacky was doing the pee pee dance :) We had fun after work going to the JCC for basketball, swimming, ping pong and bike races on the stationary bikes!
We stayed up late playing games and Daddy realized it was already officially the 20th, so somehow hugging me and wishing me happy birthday turned into making farting noises on my legs. It was obviously very late and we all cried we were laughing so hard :) And the plane didn't crash so that was my best present of the day! The kids got me magazines and candy to ease my pain :) and it was a super small plane so both Zacky and I weren't happy!
Saturday was end of summer swimming, chuck o rama (bryan tried to bribe them to go to the pizza buffet instead but they said NO!) and movie party with the Earls. Their favorite day of the year! Can't believe summer is over! It has never flown by quite this fast before! so sad. Zacky did get a "boy" teacher this year so he's happy and Taylor is SOOOO excited to start junior high! She had to get shots, we found her locker (and couldn't open it!) and found all her classes...she's ready to go!
Saturday night we celebrated my birthday at Olive Garden (and they don't have my lava cake anymore so I was sad!) and then went home and laughed at Julian Smith videos and then headed to cedar ridge for night games with everyone! It was was fun!
